Confirming rumors from earlier in the month, Verizon Wireless has inked a deal with YouTube for mobile delivery of the popular site's video content. The deal will take effect next month for V Cast subscribers at no additional cost. The most popular videos on YouTube will be available on demand. The deal doesn't appear to be exclusive.
We are excited to launch our new mobile service and to partner with Verizon Wireless to bring YouTube videos to a new audience,” said Steve Chen, chief technology officer and co-founder of YouTube.
Earlier this year YouTube made it possible to upload videos from a mobile phone using MMS. The site was also recently purchased by Google in a mega $1.65 billion stock deal.
