Motorola has been sued for allegedly knowing its Bluetooth headsets could cause significant hearing loss and not warnings its customers of the potential damage. The lawsuit was filed in Chicago and seeks class action status.
Motorola had “actual and constructive knowledge” that its headsets “posed a serious risk of harm to consumers from noise-induced hearing loss during the headsets’ normal and intended use,” the suit alleges.
Apple was hit with a similar lawsuit over its popular iPod portable music player. As a result the company updated the player's software to allow (but not require) a volume limit.
