Sony Ericsson may be working on its own music download service to compliment its Walkman line of phones. Company spokesman Aldo Liguri noted that Sony Ericsson is, "Developing the PlayNow service further. It is part of our bigger music strategy." PlayNow is currently limited to just ringtones.
Phone makers have traditionally stayed out of the content business, but the tides may be turning. Nokia bought out music store startup Loudeye earlier this month for $60 million. It's expected that Nokia will rollout a music store of its own to help power its music phones.
