Motorola has agreed to pre-install Yahoo Go for Mobile on tens of millions of new Motorola handsets. Yahoo Go was announced earlier this year at CES and so far has been promoted in a limited fashion by Cingular and Nokia. The application brings Yahoo services (such as email, search, address book and local search) to mobile phones.
As part of the agreement, Motorola will pre-load and prominently feature Yahoo! Go for Mobile on optimized handsets worldwide starting in the first half of 2007, giving consumers quick and easy access to their Internet content and services. The devices will be available to consumers in a number of markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
More information about Yahoo Go Mobile is available from Yahoo. Besides working with Yahoo, Motorola already has a partnership with Google. Also at CES, Motorola announced it would begin shipping phones with Google search integrated in (e.g. a Google button). While that was supposed to kick in later in the first quarter, so far nothing has materialized.
