Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo is working on a fuel cell to power mobile phones in the near future. The company has teamed up with Aquafairy to create a micro polymer electrolyte fuel cell. The end product is less than 25% the size of previous methanol fuel cells and is able to provide more power.
The fuel cell is the smallest in the world with power output of 2 watts as of July 14. The recharger combines DoCoMo's recharger technology with Aquafairy's thin film power unit technology and catalyst for producing hydrogen from water.
