There have been lots of 'mobile only' short film competitions, but New Love Meetings is the first feature-length movie we have heard of shot entirely by a mobile phone. The documentary was filmed with a Nokia N90 in the MPEG4 video format. The N90 sports a 2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and provides some of the best quality images and video of any currently available phone.
When it comes to movies, though, cellphone cameras present limits, such as the difficulty to film in darkness or the lack of microphones. As a result, the movie mostly features close-ups, and the image, while overall clear, is slightly shaky. Directors said Tuesday no post-production manipulation was made on the image.
