Nokia has signed a $129m contract with Pantech to buy two handset models from the company. The models will be CDMA handsets with EV-DO 3G data technology. Thanks to patent disputes and delays caused by betting on 1xEV-DV instead of 1xEV-DO, Nokia has been unable to ship an EV-DO phone on its own.
The FCC has already posted information about one Nokia branded Pantech handset, the 6315i.
Shares of Pantech surged 15% once news of the deal hit the trading floor. The phones are supposed to be shipping by December.
