According to the latest sales data from Telephia, Motorola's RAZR handset was the best selling phone model in Europe during the first quarter of 2006. Sales of the thin handset surged 100% and accounted for 6.2% of all units in Europe. The strongest sales were in the UK, Italy and Spain. US marketshare for the RAZR is remarkably similar to Europe as a whole, 6.1%.
Motorola's high sales in Europe are an accomplishment as the region has been led by Nokia for a number of years. But the American based company still has work to do, of the top eight models in Europe, five were Nokia's (for example, the #2 model was the Nokia 6230).
