BusinessWeek on MediaFLO

BusinessWeek has an interesting article on Qualcomm's MediaFLO technology. We've covered it before, but general interest is starting to stir since Verizon Wireless plans to initiate a limited launch of MediaFLO later this year. While official plans for Verizon Wireless' launch haven't been announced, it will most likely come as a value add to the existing V Cast service.

MediaFLO is all about mobile TV and will be able to offer 20 channels of video, 10 channels of audio and up to 800 minutes of time shifted content. It's multicast, more like conventional TV, so carrier data networks won't get taxed. It won't be alone in the multicast mobile TV market though, Crown Catle International founded a company called Modeo that is currently setting up a nationwide DVB-H network.
