Nokia announced that F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will ship on several of its business oriented phones. The software will be on the memory card bundled with the N71 and will be in the catalog on the E60, E61 and E70 devices.
While mobile phones are only rarely infected with malware, Nokia is taking early steps to prevent what happened to PCs several years ago. Because Nokia's high-end phones all run the same Symbian OS, they can all be infected with the same virus.
"As the market leader, Nokia is determined to be active in the development of security controls and preventive measures against malicious software. Providing antivirus software such as the F-Secure antivirus clients for select devices is a natural step in our aim to bring the most advanced security features into S60-based smartphones," said Seppo Laukkanen, Vice President, Product Management, Nokia.
