ABI Research is reporting that 2006 may be a banner year for 3G technologies world wide. As reported by MobileMag, "The expansion of 3G services is expected to increase substantially this year, continuing the trend from last year when the WCDMA subscriptions increased by 142% compared to 2004. By 2010, 1 billion 3G subscribers are expected".
By the end of 2005 there were 2.14 billion cellular subscribers, or one out of three people worldwide. But if you think the current numbers are staggering, ABI Research expects worldwide cellular users to exceed 3 billion by 2008, and industry analyst are claiming that figure could be even further accelerated.
