Insight Research expects worldwide wireless telecommunications revenue to reach $600 billion in 2006. Total telecom revenue is about double that figure, with wireless becoming a higher percentage every year. The report also notes that 1.8 billion mobile phone subscribers are expected at the beginning of 2006.
Wireless communications will continue to displace wireline communications for voice calling and as the number of wireless 2.5G and 3G data services increases, wireless will continue to squeeze traditional landline calling.
