Hot off the introduction of the Treo 700w there are rumors of more Treo models to help flush out the product line. Palm recently denied reports that the Symbian OS will be used in an upcoming model, citing the fact that it would be a boost for Nokia (a major shareholder of Symbian.)
Forbes quotes analyst Susan Kalla who believes a 3G data equipped successor to the Treo 650 should ship in the first half of 2006.
The replacement for the Treo 650, also with an EVDO radio, will ship in fiscal fourth quarter ending May to Verizon Wireless and also probably to Sprint Nextel (nyse: S - news - people ), Kalla said. A version with a UMTS radio could ship to Cingular Wireless, likely closer to the end of the year. "We had previously thought the product would ship in the third quarter, but believe Palm delayed it so it can concentrate on the Windows Treo release."
Besides the Treo 650 successor, Palm is also believed to be working on a lower-end handset codenamed lowrider that will sell for around $200. If true that will mean three Treo models, up from the current one.
