Most US carriers have made it easy for subscribers to donate to the Red Cross for hurricane Katrina relief:
- Cingular Wireless sent a text message to every subscriber asking if they would like to donate $1.99. Simply reply with yes to donate.
- Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel and ALLTEL customers can make a $5 donation by sending the text message "give" to the number "24357" (2GIVE).
All carriers are still working to get their networks back to 100%. Communications is typically the first and most important service to bring back up after a major disaster.
Your donation is also welcome directly on the Red Cross' website.
