iTunes phone expected Monday, report

According to an article in Red Herring, Motorola is expected to debut its first iTunes phone at an event dubbed MOTONOW on Monday evening. The event will be held before the annual financial analyst meeting which, one year ago was the announcement platform for the iTunes plan. Various internet rumors have hinted at a surprise visit to the MOTONOW media event by none other than Apple's secretive CEO Steve Jobs. Motorola's CEO Ed Zander is currently slated to lead the event. bq. “If they don’t [announce an iTunes handset], it’s not going to be lost on analysts that it’s been a year and we haven’t seen the phone,” said Edward Snyder, principal at Charter Equity Research. “If that happens, analysts will be peppering [Mr. Zander] with a lot of questions.” This has not been the first event rumored as a launching pad for an iTunes handset, but the summer target launch date is running out with few events currently scheduled.
