MMCmicro finalized

MMCmicro, a competitor to the
newly established standard microSD, has been finalized. Development of MMCmicro has been headed up by Samsung (microSD, formally known as TransFlash, was created by memory giant SanDisk).
While MMCmicro cards are slightly larger than micoSD, they are currently available in sizes up to 1GB today. microSD tops out at 512MB, though plans for chips up to 2GB are on the drawing board.
Quick MMCmicro facts
* 12x14x1.1mm
* Operates at either 3.3 volts or 1.8 volts
* Throughput speeds of up to 26 MB/sec
* MMCmicro Cards sized 2GB and 4GB are expected in late '06 and mid '07, respectively
