Firefly Mobile today announced that its
Firefly phone has hit store shelves nationwide at Target. The phone is targeted at children ages 8-12. It uses pre-paid service and has limited functionality:
bq. With just five keys instead of a regular dial pad, parents use a PIN to program up to 22 outgoing numbers into the phone, including speed-dial keys for Mom and Dad. Kids place calls by pressing the Mom, Dad or Phone Book keys, and then send.
There is also a feature to call 911 in case the child is in an emergency.
Target is selling the Firefly phone for $99 and that price includes 30 minutes of airtime.
