Sony Ericsson to announce more phones
Sony Ericsson President Miles Flint
spoke recently at the Reuters Telecoms, Media and Technology Summit in Paris, noting that his company will try to expand its handset selection:
bq. Sony Ericsson launched only seven new models in 2004, well below its top five rivals such as Nokia and Samsung Electronics, which launch dozens of new phones a year, Flint said. He added that he would double the figure in 2005, and increase it again in 2006.
Mr. Flint who also said that Sony Ericsson plans to become a top three manufactorer (currently #6, slightly behind Siemens), will expand its low-end selection due to demand from carriers.
The last announcement date from Sony Ericsson was
March 1st. In total six handsets have been announced this year. In contrast,
Motorola announced 27 in just Q1.
One of the phones announced in March, the
Sony Ericsson K750i began shipping recently.
