Nokia 6638 approved, CDMA Series 60
Apr 27 2005 - 10:08 PM ET | Nokia, Rumor
The FCC has approved (FCC ID QMNRM-18) the Nokia 6638, the first CDMA Series 60 phone. Visually, it looks just like the
Nokia 6630 with the addition of a [very long] antenna. Since the 6638 is a CDMA handset, Nokia is most likely aiming for a US release.
Features are typical for a Series 60 smartphone:
* 176 x 208 pixel 65K color display
* Bluetooth
* MMC slot
Interestingly enough, video calling is mentioned in the draft manual posted on the FCC site. While EV-DO is not mentioned, video calling would need to use it. It's also possible that the video calling section is left over from the
6630 manual.
