Sony Ericsson to advertise on the big screen

Sony Ericsson has
devoted [paid subscription req.] 75% of its upcoming North American ad budget for commercials before movies. The ads will be shown on over 11,000 screens around the country. One of the largest benefits of ads before movies is the younger audience (depending on the film) that is becoming harder to target on television. But since everyone at a movie has paid to be there, some see running ads before hand as a method of double dipping.
Sony Ericsson typically spends only a fraction on US advertising than do its competitors. This year the budget should be kicked up, but still smaller than the market leaders. Look for the ads to start in May.
