Toshiba has a
new type of Lithium-Ion battery that recharges to 80% capacity in just 60 seconds. In "several more minutes" the battery becomes fully recharged. This compares to several hours for other types of Li-ion batteries.
bq. The secret is the use of "nano-particles" to "prevent organic liquid electrolytes from reducing during battery recharging. The nano-particles quickly absorb and store vast amount of lithium ions, without causing any deterioration in the electrode".
Size wise it's still a bit large for phones, but time will make it smaller. It should come to market some time next year.
