The future of wireless looks to be a showdown in wireless 1Gbps (1 gigabit per second) technology--just weeks after Siemens
announced it was working on technology to transmit 1Gbps wirelessly, NTT DoCoMo announces the same thing.
The last time DoCoMo announced speeds from its
4G trials, it was a still impressive 300Mbps (300 megabits per second). The company aims to create the accepted 4G standard.
Two technologies were used in the latest test to achieve the superior speeds: variable-spreading-factor spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (VSF-Spread OFDM) and multple-input-multple-output (MIMO) multiplexing.
