Motorola inks 3-year iDEN deal
Dec 16 2004 - 02:53 PM ET | Motorola, Nextel
In an attempt to ease investor's mind over the Sprint / Nextel merger (and eventual easing away from Motorola's iDEN technology), Motorola today announced a contract with Nextel to provide iDEN equipment for the next 3-years. Motorola supplies both the iDEN infrastructure and handsets. The expected value of the agreement was not disclosed.
Motorola also noted that more new models of iDEN handsets are expected to be introduced in the next year, including new models with WiDEN data functionality that increases data rates up to four times faster than customary iDEN data rates.
