Cingular launches escape-a-date service

Via a press release that reads like it came from the
bizarro world, Cingular Wireless announced a service that can get you out of a bad date:
bq. This new service allows you to schedule a "rescue" phone call at a pre-set time. That way, you'll be called at the time you specify. The service tells you exactly what to say to set the tone for a speedy escape. There are eight randomly generated humorous scripts.
The escape-a-date feature is part of the Voice Connect service, a $4.99/mo exclusive to Cingular Wireless. Other features include: joke of the day, wake up call, and trivia. To activate this feature on your handset call *8 (*08 on some GSM phones).
A transcript of one of the eight bad date excuses is given after the jump.
Cingular: Hey, this is your escape-a-date call. If you're looking for an excuse, I got it. Just repeat after me, and you'll be on your way!
Slight pause
"Not again! Why does that always happen to you? ... Alright, I'll be right there."
Cingular: Now tell 'em that your roommate got locked out, and you have to go let them in. Good luck!
