Due to the number of requests for information about the new Motorola RAZR V3 and what carriers it will be on, here is a quick answer: only GSM carriers. For those unaware of the technology behind cell phones, there are two major competing technologies in the US: GSM and CDMA. We'll leave out the geeky stuff, but you will never be able to use a GSM phone on a CDMA network or a CDMA phone on a GSM network. Here's a listing of what the major US carriers are:
There is no way that the Motorola RAZR V3 will work on Verizon Wireless or Sprint PCS unless Motorola announces a CDMA version. There are no rumors of this happening.
No carrier has announced plans carry the V3. It's due to launch in the third quarter.
