LG, Qualcomm plan EV-DV by 2006
LG inked a deal with Qualcomm that secures a
plan to launch EV-DV by 2006. Qualcomm will provide LG with CDMA2000 1xEV-DV chipsets by the end of this year. LG Telecom will launch EV-DV trials as soon as early 2005 with a full scale launch planned for 2006.
EV-DV supports download speeds of 3.1Mbps compared to EV-DO's 2.4 Mbps. Uploads on EV-DV reach 1.8Mbps, 12 times faster than the 153.6 Kbps of EV-DO. Verizon Wireless is rolling out an EV-DO network in the US
