According to a release by parent company Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile USA added 1.2 million customers in the first quarter of 2004. Analysts expected an increase of 647,000 to 1.1 million. Average revenue per customer, a key statistic in the wireless industry, increased to $54, up from $50 a year ago.
T-Mobile USA now has 14.3 million subscribers, making it the fifth largest wireless carrier in the US.
