Nextel triples profits

Nextel Communications announced a Q1 2004 profit of $591 million, nearly triple that of the same quarter last year. The company added 474,000 subscribers in the quarter. Nextel's bread and butter, average monthly revenue per subscriber, sat at an impressive $67. However, the monthly subscriber revenue was at $70 last quarter. Shares of the company (NXTL) are trading up slightly.
