Opera Software says your mobile phone will soon be able to control a video recorder. Recorders such as TiVo are quite popular, and are expected to take a large jump in market share in the next several years.
The company is of course talking about its own software: the Mobile Interactive Programming Guide (IPG) will allow you to look up TV schedules on your cell phone and tell your recorder to capture programs of your choosing.
What's the catch? You need an internet enabled PVR (personal video recorder). No list of compatible devices was announced.
Update: Our friends at PVRblog note that this isn't new, and have some interesting links on the topic.
