Sun Microsystems and Nokia team for multiplayer games

Sun Microsystems and Nokia are banding together to bring real-time multiplayer games to mobiles. Sun is the company behind Java, the platform most mobile games are written on. The solution is dubbed SNAP, and should be released in Q3 2004.

a mobile online multiplayer gaming component that will allow consumers to play online connected games with other people around the world."
This is obviously a welcome feature to carriers who are always looking to increase data revenue. Nokia is most likely interested in this technology for its N-Gage handset.
