Nextel, the carrier most known for its push-to-talk services, is testing a highspeed data network in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. According to the company, speeds as high of 3 megabits can be experienced (more than twice the speed of a T1). If the trial goes well, the network will go head to head against Verizon Wireless' 1xEV-DO technology that is going nationwide.
