The Register is
reporting that Euro-carrier Vodafone is trying out 3G data cards. The service should make it to the marketplace by Spring. However, the Register wasn't too impressed with the speed:
bq.
"The current version of the card provides notebooks with Internet access through dial-up GSM links or always-on GPRS connections. Neither is particularly quick, better for checking email on the move than heavy-duty web browsing."
Verizon Wireless has a
similar program in two US cities, and
plans to launch the service nationwide. Vodafone owns a minority stake in Verizon Wireless.
