Nokia to intro Perl/Python on mobiles [updated]
Jan 16 2004 - 07:49 PM ET | Unique
Big news for geeks everywhere--Nokia has
announced it will make software to run Perl on future phones! The internal version of the de facto scripting language will run on Series 60 devices like the
6620,
6600 and N-Gage. This should be a boon to mobile software devlopment as the current choices (C++, Java) are overkill for a lot of applications.
The time frame has not been announced, but the company notes it shouldn't take too long. We'll post more info as we get it.
Update: The Register has posted a
story stating that it may in fact be Python on Nokia handsets, not Perl.
