Number portability discussed in Japan
Number portability is being
discussed in Japan, and could be active as soon as 2005. This is one of the rare times where the US is actually
ahead of Japan in cellular service.
Number portability in the US will go active on November 24th, and is expected to spur all sorts of deals for consumers in an attempt to grab as much of the "unhappy market" as possible. It's most likely going to be a wild ride for the first few months.
