Screens into speakers

Authentic Ltd, a subsidiary of NEC, is working on turning mobile phone screens into a speaker. The technology works by vibrating the front panel of an LCD. The best part is that because screens tend to be large (compared to speakers that are normally in phones) the audio quality is superior. The case can be solid as well, which should make phones more durable. [via MobileMedia Japan]
