Time to buy

If you're looking to get a phone, this is a great time to start looking. Wireless co's are beefing up customer service, giving away decent phones, and actually trying to not piss you off. Why the sudden change? Number portability. Come November 24th, you'll be able to switch carriers (if you're off contract) and keep your number. No more blackmail. It's nice to see that with a little competition things are getting better for the consumer. So remember, when you're at the store talking to the salesman, mention number portability a few times. It wouldn't hurt to try and talk them down a bit after you drop November 24th into the conversation either.
