Nextel Fights Back
Jun 30 2003 - 02:12 PM ET | Push-to-talk
Last week
we mentioned that Verzion took Nextel to court for "improperly obtaining" some prototypes for Verizon's upcoming walkie-talkie feature.
The plot thickens. Today Nextel is
taking Verizon to court over using the phrase "push-to-talk". We're not lawyers, but a phrase as common as PTT should be public domain. It will be interesting to see how this works out.
This is going to be a nasty battle--just wait until Verizon's product launches. Nextel has made
billions with its "Direct Connect" service, and it isn't about to lose its edge.
