MPEG-4 Licensing Woes

The US company which manages the collective MPEG related patents for the MPEG-4 visual compression standard, delivered a 47-page agreement in English to befuddled Japanese content providers laying out new terms for paying royalties on video download content formatted in MPEG-4. Let's just hope they wade through it and agree... From a users point of view it doesn't sound like a hard thing to negotiate: "How much do we pay per user?". Lawyers.
